Pop singer-turned-militant fugitive Fadl Shaker is still hiding in the southern Palestinian camp of Ain al Hilweh and will turn himself in whenever he deems the time is right, his lawyer told The Daily Star.
"He will hand himself over to authorities when he decides that the time is right, but it will not be now," May al Khansa, Shaker's lawyer, said.
Asked if the arrest of radical preacher Sheikh Ahmad al Assir would impact Shaker's case, the lawyer said that "every person will face the consequences of his actions."
Assir and Shaker both stand accused over participation in the 2013 Abra battle between the Army and militants loyal to the preacher. The two-day battle left 18 soldiers and about 40 militants dead.
Shaker has long denied any involvement in the battle.
"Shaker didn't take any part in the Abra clashes and he had cut off ties with Assir a long time ago, even before the incident," Khansa claimed.
