Twilight alum Kristen Stewart has become the first American actress to win a Cesar Award or French Oscar in Paris Friday night.
Stewart, 24, took home the Best Supporting Actress prize for her work in the film Clouds of Sils Maria.
Writer-director Abderrahmane Sissako's Timbuktu was the night's big winner, earning the accolades for Best Film, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, Best Original Music, Best Cinematography, Best Editing and Best Sound. The drama also is a nominee for Hollywood's Best Foreign Language Film Oscar.
Adele Haenel won the Cesar for Best Actress for her performance in Thomas Cailley's Love At First Fight, which was declared Best First Film. Haenel's co-star Kevin Azais also was named Best New Actor.
Pierre Niney won the award for Best Actor for his role in Yves Saint Laurent, which also scored the prize for Best Costumes, and Reda Kateb won the Best Supporting Actor title for his turn in Hippocrates.
