The Public Sector Employees Association called on the Cabinet to forward to Parliament its draft law to increase the salary scale and voiced support for a general strike scheduled for next week. “The Cabinet should refer the draft law to the Parliament without any delay. They should give the raise immediately because paying it in installments would diminish its value,” the statement read. The association reiterated its rejection of passing the law along with new taxes. “Under the pretext of funding the salary scale they want to introduce taxes that would affect low- and middle-income people,” it said. The statement said public sector employees will take part in the protests and strike planned by the Union Coordination Committee next Wednesday. From DailyStar
