A military parade on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the victory in the Fatherland Liberation War (the Korean War in 1950-1953) was held on the Kim Il Sung Square on Saturday. Before the tribune with honorary officials, where North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and other high-ranking officials of the republic are staying, the formations of the Korean People’s Army and the Worker-Peasant Red Guards passed in a march. The military hardware, including combat infantry vehicles, armoured personnel carriers, tanks, self-propelled artillery guns with different calibres, multiple fire missile systems and tactical missiles were marching after them. The elements of missile defence and air defence were showed. The drones built in North Korea were showed at the parade for the first time. Helicopter gunships with the posters glorifying the party, the country and the leader were making circles over the square, where big portraits of smiling Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il were placed. The fighters and assault warplanes, including fighters MiG-29, were flying over the square, stirring up a storm of excitement. A demonstration of the workers began after the parade. North Korean leader Kim Jong Un in black jacket reviewed the parade as the supreme commander-in-chief of the Korean People’s Army. Chinese Vice-President Li Yuanchao, who arrived on the occasion in Pyongyang as the head of the official delegation, was standing next to Kim among honorary guests. Chinese militiamen, who were fighting for North Korea during a three-year armed conflict on the Korean Peninsula, were present on the square. Official delegations, including military delegations from China, Syria, Cuba, Vietnam, Iran, Laos, India, Indonesia, Mozambique, Tanzania and other countries arrived in North Korea to attend the festive events on the Day of Victory in the Fatherland Liberation War. After the parade a demonstration of the workers began on the square. About 100,000 people are staying on the square.
