Alitalia pilots and flight attendants announced 24 hours strike on Friday, July 24 starting from midnight on Thursday. The Italian Civil Aviation Association (ANPAC) announced the reason behind the strike is that Alitalia has refused to provide guarantees on staffing levels, meaning thousand pilots' and stewards' jobs are potentially at risk.
About 15 percent of the airline's scheduled flights will be canceled due to the planned strike.
The strike will affect all Alitalia flights out of Italian airports, except for the ones from Bologna and Venice, but will not disrupt those originating from abroad.
