Hundreds of activists took to the streets across Jordan on Friday in protest against the government\'s economic policies, calling for its resignation, according to eyewitnesses and organisers. In a series of rallies led by leftist and independent activists in the southern cities of Karak, Tafileh and Maan, protesters declared Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour’s Cabinet reshuffle last week a “failure” for not including opposition figures and called for the formation of a “national unity government” representing wider segments of society. In a rally in the northern city of Irbid, around 250 Islamists denounced the government\'s stance towards the Egyptian crisis. Leftists cancelled a previously planned protest in Amman, leaving the capital’s streets free of demos for the second straight week. Source: The Jordan Times
