The Department of Public Works in Sharjah announced on Sunday that it has completed a Dhs20 million project on roads leading to southern areas of Khor Fakkan.The project involved constructing a bridge and loop roads near the branch of the University of Sharjah and nearby government buildings.It aims at reducing congestion and facilitating students’ access to the campus area, making it easier for all commuters to also visit governmental buildings located in the vicinity, especially those coming from Fujairah and Kalba.The bridge consists of two lanes at a total length of 320 metres with two roundabouts at both ends of the bridge.It includes four exits, five metres wide with a total length of eight kilometers.This is in addition to service roads consisting of two lanes that are 7.3 metres wide with a total length of 1.3 kilometres, linking the government buildings, the department noted.The project also included constructing a two-way road consisting of three lanes that passes under the bridge for a distance of about 1.4 kilometres.Engineer Soliman Al Hajri, director of the Road Projects Division at the Department of Public Works in Sharjah said in the statement, “This project is one of the most vital projects being carried out in the Eastern Region.The department is working on a number of infrastructure projects and government buildings all within the framework of improving services and developing all cities and areas of the Emirate to ensure all means of decent living for citizens and residents.” From / Gulf Today
