Qatar ranked first in GCC in terms of sufficient supplies, reliable network, and technical losses, said a press release issued by KAHRAMAA for the 3Q ,2011 after the Corporate Performance Review (CPR) meeting held here on Wednesday. Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation "KAHRAMAA" held of the 3rd quarter 2011. The meeting was chaired by KAHRAMAA President Eng. Essa Hilal Al-Kuwari, in the attendance of KAHRAMAA Directors, Managers, and senior staff. The CPR meeting is meant to monitor performance and review the strategic plans in line with the approved plan 2011-2016. Following the meeting, the following figures were released: - Total water production increased by 6.6% vs. 3Q 2010 - Electricity system peak increased by 15% vs. 3Q 2010 - Noticeable network reliability on SAIDI & SAIFI The meeting also reviewed the results of the GCC overall benchmarking, average of 2008, 2009 & 2010. It comes within the involvement of GCC benchmarking as a modern management tool applied in the major corporations to measure performance. It goes in line with the strategic trend of electricity and water corporations. Results showed that Qatar is ranked first in GCC in terms of sufficient supply, (i.e. availability of strategic reserve), network reliability (as indicated by System Average Interruption Duration Index SAIDI & System Average Interruption Frequency Index SAIFI). SAIDI & SAIFI indicated noticeable development in the 3Q 2011 compared with the same period of 2010. Qatar is ranked first with less technical losses. The meeting reviewed departments’ performance and development, problem analysis, work progress in implemented projects, challenges they face and procedures to overcome. Electricity system peak increased by 15% vs. 3Q 2010. Total water production increased by 6.6% vs. 3Q 2010. The meeting focused mainly on the strategic plans and projects KAHRAMAA implemented in electricity and water sectors and other services provided for customers. At the end of the meeting, Eng. Al-Kuwari expressed his pleasure for the great development KAHRAMAA business and projects witnessed in the 3Q 2011. KAHRAMAA president appreciated the attainment of ISO certificate in project management by Electricity Affairs Directorate represented by Electricity Planning Department. He also hailed the efforts of KAHRAMAA staff who contributed to the development KAHRAMAA witnessed at all levels. Al-Kuwari stressed KAHRAMAA commitment to anticipate the future and efficiently meet Qatar need of electricity and water.
