Grain futures were mixed Thursday on the Chicago Board of Trade as equity markets made gains for a third consecutive day and the dollar index fell. Corn was unchanged to off 3/4, soybeans were off 1/4 to up 1/4, wheat was off 7 1/2 to off 9 3/4 and oats were off 1/2. Corn held steady Thursday with a lift provided by equity markets, which rose as European leaders contemplated recapitalizing European banks. Wheat prices shifted lower with pressure from weather reports that call for heavy rains in the southern plains. Soybean prices were also little changed with a stronger market offset by rumors the U.S. Department of Agriculture will increase its production estimate in the next supply/demand report. The prices: Corn: Dec 6.05 1/2 unchanged, Mar 6.18 1/4 unchanged, May 6.26 up 17 1/4 off 1/4, Jly 6.30 off 3/4. Soybeans: Nov 11.63 3/4 unchanged, Jan 11.75 3/2 up 1/4, Mar 11.85 off 1/4, May 11.93 3/4 unchanged. Wheat: Dec 6.16 off 9 1/4, Mar 6.52 1/2 off 7 1/2, May 6.77 1/4 off 8, Jly 6.89 off 9 3/4.
