The European Union delegation in Cairo announced early Thursday the commencement of technical support - to be offered by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) - for developing the Suez Canal economic zone.
The announcement was made during a press conference held in Cairo.
Chairman of the General Authority for Suez Canal Economic Zone Ahmed Darwish attended the event alongside Chargé d'Affaires of the EU Delegation in Egypt Reinhold Brender and OECD Director of Global Relations Andreas Schaal.
The conference aimed at expounding means of supporting the Suez Canal authority's investment plans, offering technical support for investors' services and securing a proper investment climate in the region.
The OECD, the Suez Canal authority and Egyptian ministries will cooperate under the umbrella of the EU.
The six-month program will focus on building the authority's capabilities and forging a sustainable development example for developing the infrastructure.
