The third annual Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) conference organized by the Ministry of Trade and Business will be held in the Doha Sheraton Hotel on October 3-4. As well as hosting expert speakers on CSR from the UN Global Compact network, the World Bank and international and national companies, CSR Conference attracts a number of major national and foreign companies operating within Qatar, said Ahmed al-Marzouki, Head of Ministry of Business and Trade CSR Committee. The Ministry of Trade and Business is working to entrench CSR principles in Qatar through the development of local standards of social responsibility by a working group, comprising representatives of different ministries and other stakeholders organizations, he added. The results that were revealed in a survey by the Ministry show that national companies are eager to implement CSR principles, said al-Marzouki. CSR Conference is one of Qatar’s quality initiatives to support sustainable development in Qatar and increase awareness of the importance of corporate citizenship in commercial activities. RasGas’ is the diamond sponsor of this year’s annual conference, while Exxon Mobil Corporation, United Development Company PSC (UDC), al Khaliji Bank and Dolphin Energy are platinum sponsors. The gold sponsors are Alfardan Group, Total, Qatar District Cooling Company (Qatar Cool) while q.media is sponsoring the event as a media sponsor.
