Under the theme of "Promoting a more sustainable future for Abu Dhabi", the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Group (ADSG), a public-private partnership for the benefit of sustainable development in Abu Dhabi, participates at the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2014 (ADSW). The ADSG's participation in ADSW takes the form of a dynamic hub of knowledge sharing on sustainability through a variety of interactive debates, presentations and films, including a series of interviews with high profile leaders of ADSG member organisations. The group, in collaboration with its members, has developed the below programme of activities and has invited sustainability experts to share their knowledge and experience in sustainability during the conference. The ADSG announced its programme of events at the ADSW and extends an invitation to its members and ADSW's attendees to participate in those events. The ADSG stand at Sustainable Future Arena - No. 6130- will be officially visited by Razan Khalifa Al Mubarak, Secretary General, Environment Agency - Abu Dhabi (EAD), with a launch of the group's new strategy framework. EAD continue to support the ADSG since it was established in 2008 and help to convene stakeholders, provide policy advice and other advisory services, support capacity development and promote best practices. This will help the ADSG to achieve a well-coordinated implementation of the strategy. Throughout the three-day programme, the representatives of the ADSG's Facilitation and Coordination Committee, who lead the day-to-day management of the group, will be present and highlight various aspects of the group's progress under the theme "Promoting a more sustainable future for Abu Dhabi", including aspects such as: The ADSG's Journey since its inception in 2008, How the ADSG supports members' sustainability drive within their respective organsiations and The role they played in developing the ADSG strategy Ahead of the upcoming conference, Huda Al Houqani, Director ADSG, said "I would like to take this opportunity to warmly thank the ADSG members and stakeholders for their sustained and engaged support of the ADSG. Amongst those, members who have actively worked with us to develop our strategy for the coming years and helped us develop and implement the ADSG programme of events for Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week". Some of the highlights of the ADSG's programme of events during ADSW include: Day 1 - Monday 20th January 2014 The launch of the ADSG strategy framework by Razan Al Mubarak, Secretary General, EAD This will be followed by a presentation by the ADSG Facilitation and Coordination Committee offering an overview about the Strategy Development Process. Day 2 - Tuesday 21st January 2014 With a busy day planned to debate various aspects and insights on sustainability, the day starts with a talk on the sustainability journey from integration to innovation, looking into new ways to manage sustainability. This session will discuss new demands and expectations that business is facing at its interface with society. The role innovation plays as the key element of aligning stakeholder governance, business processes and corporate leadership with the new imperatives of the sustainability agenda in the 21st Century. This is followed by a panel discussion tilted: The future of responsible business - challenges, opportunities and limitations. Also on this day, ADSG members will present the group's Sustainability Capacity Building Programme, in a session titled: Promoting A More Sustainable Future For Abu Dhabi. During this session, ADSG members will cover the ADSG's Capacity Building Programme that focusses on promoting sustainable management practices in terms of managing and reporting on sustainability. Finally, the close of the day features a panel discussion titled: Mitigating Risk and Capitalising Opportunities in an Unsustainable World. Day 3 - Wednesday 22nd January 2014 The last day of the event features high profile speakers from ADSG members, including: A presentation from Al Dar on their sustainability practices, the Department of Transport highlighting Traffic Management Model, and the Emirates Identity Authority, EIDA sharing their sustainability initiatives.
