Stocks dropped in early afternoon in New York Monday after Japan announced its second-quarter gross domestic product, which was lower than expected. The Dow Jones industrial average lost 68.73 points or 0.52 percent to 13,139.22. The Nasdaq Composite shed 9.93 points or 0.33 percent to 3,101.93. The Standard and Poor\'s 500 dropped 5.67 points or 0.40 percent to 1,400.20. The 10-year U.S. treasury note yielded 1.635, with prices up 8/32. Against the euro, the dollar was $1.2328 from $1.229 Friday. Against the yen, the dollar was 78.34 from 78.27 yen. In Tokyo, the Nikkei closed at 8,885.15, off 6.29 points, or 0.07 percent. In London, the FTSE 100 index lost 0.26 percent, 15.23, to 5,831.88.
