Nikkei opens 1.27 higher on robust U.S. stocks

Tokyo stocks opened higher Monday with the key Nikkei index rising 1.27 percent following robust U.S. stocks Friday. At 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 112.11 points from Friday to 8,944.04. The broader Topix index expanded 10.81 points, or 1.42 percent, to 771.50.
