The Indian main stock index Sensex opened at 15,995.69 points Tuesday, 49.59 points or 0.31 percent higher from the previous close of 15,946.10 on bottom hunting. Metal, IT, health care and power sectors grew 0.49 percent, 0. 42 percent, 0.33 percent and 0.3 percent, respectively. Tata Motors, heavy machine maker BHEL, Jindal Steel and aluminum refiner Hindalco picked up 3.13 percent, 2.61 percent, 1. 58 percent and 1.81 percent. Still, consumer durables, realty, automobile and technological sectors declined 2.1 percent, 0.11 percent, 0.06 percent and 0.05 percent, respectively. Bajaj Auto, telecom operator Bharti Airtel, Hero Motors and software outsourcing player WIPRO dipped 2.06 percent, 1.69 percent, 0.84 percent and 0.46 percent. Sensex is the common name for the Bombay Stock Exchange Sensitive Index. It consists of the 30 largest and most actively traded stocks, representative of various sectors, on the Bombay Stock Exchange.
