Hong Kong stocks closed down slightly on Monday. The benchmark Hang Seng Index moved down 0.19 points to close at 20,694.7 points, after trading between a day high of 20,780.14 points and a day low of 20,503.24 points. Turnover shrank to 39.64 billion HK dollars (5.11 billion U.S. dollars) from Friday's 53.87 billion HK dollars. The H-Share Index moved down 56.15 points, or 0.44 percent, to end at 12,739.2 points. Banking giant HSBC ended down 0.88 percent to close at 73.45 HK dollars. China Mobile, China's dominant mobile carrier ended up 0.47 percent at 86 HK dollars. Mainland lenders listed in Hong Kong lost. ICBC, China's largest bank by market value, edged down 0.66 percent to close at 4.55 HK dollars; CCB, the country's second largest lender by market capitalization, decreased 0.19 percent to close at 5.29 HK dollars; BOC, one of the "big four", ended down 1.01 percent to close at 2.93 HK dollars. For local property developers, Sun Hung Kai, HK's largest property developer by market value, ended up 1.26 percent at 112.2 HK dollars; Cheung Kong properties, owned by billionaire Li Ka- shing, edged up 0.35 percent to 113.3 HK dollars. PetroChina, the country's largest oil and gas producer, moved down 0.39 percent to 10.14 HK dollars. Sinopec, China's top refiner, ended down 0.28 percent to 7.16 HK dollars. China Life, one of the world's largest life insurers by market value, ended down 0.44 percent at 22.55 HK dollars.
