Gold prices slid Monday on the Comex division of the New York Mercantile Exchange, dropping $6.70 to hit $1,576.10 per troy ounce. Silver closed down 32 cents to $26.98 an ounce, off 1.18 percent. The euro was $1.2138 from $1.2158 Friday. Against the yen, the dollar was 78.40 from 78.48 yen Friday. The British pound was $1.552 from $1.5621. The dollar 1.0177 from 1.0127 Canadian dollars.
