Gold prices closed higher on the Comex division of the New York Mercantile Exchange Thursday, adding $9.20 and settling at $1,628.80 per troy ounce. Silver gained 28 cents to close at $28.69 per troy ounce. The dollar was mixed across Europe and Asia with the dollar index off 0.35 percent to 81.59 on the International Exchange.
