Saudi Aramco and the Saudi Standards, Meteorology and Quality Organization (SASO) signed a technical collaboration agreement to activate a number of initiatives, conduct more specialized studies and research, and to share experiences in the development and management of engineering standards.
To stress the importance of collaboration among all stakeholders, including government entities, academic institutions and the private sector, the agreement outlined that Saudi Aramco will lead the relevant technical team responsible for establishing standards for petroleum products.
The agreement was signed by Nabilah Al-Tunisi, Saudi Aramco’s chief engineer, and Tamis Al-Hammadi, director general of the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO) at a ceremony held at Saudi Aramco, Dhahran.
Al-Tunisi expressed her appreciation and commended the longstanding relationship between the two parties in the field of standards and meteorology, and underscored the importance of engineering standards in maintaining high levels of reliability and safety in Saudi Aramco’s operations.
Al-Tunisi also spoke about the company’s ongoing standards optimization initiative to enhance and develop engineering standards in terms of proper planning and alignment with international and industrial specifications. She commended SASO’s consistent efforts to develop the industrial sector in particular and other sectors in general. She stressed the importance of raising the quality of products and upgrading their specifications to meet international standards and Saudi Arabia’s high ambitions in line with Vision 2030 and the National Transformation Program 2020.
Tamis Al-Hammadi extended his sincere gratitude and appreciation to Saudi Aramco for hosting the meeting that led to the formalization of this agreement. He also thanked the company for its substantial role and ongoing cooperation with SASO in the development and update of SASO standard specifications.
Al-Hammadi highlighted the importance of the agreement, stressing that it is aligned with Saudi Vision 2030 as it supports joint work programs among various entities and promotes a “delivering as one” approach. He noted that Saudi Aramco has a long-standing tradition of cooperation with SASO and has participated in more than nine technical groups responsible for the development of Saudi standard specifications.
