Qatar Airways has won two awards from major international airports for its best on-time performance (OTP) during the year 2014.
Dubai Airports, which owns and manages Dubai International Airport (DXB), awarded Qatar Airways a gold award for its 84.3 percent OTP average in the "over 2,000 movements" category, the airline said Tuesday.
Qatar Airways Airport Service Manager for Dubai Chehade Saad received the award on behalf of the national carrier at a ceremony held at the InterContinental Dubai Festival City Hotel.
The Qatari carrier won the second award for its OTP in Seoul. Incheon International Airport Corporation (IIAC) presented the award to Qatar Airways.
The IIAC selected airlines based on their on-time percentage, check-in waiting time, baggage handling, passenger survey for services, level of contribution to the airport's growth, and passenger percentage.
Qatar Airways competed with 20 other carriers and won the Best Airline of the Year Award in the group of over 200,000 passengers carried in 2014. Baek-Jae Kim, the carrier's Airport Service Manager for Seoul (ICN), received the award on behalf of the carrier at a ceremony organized at Incheon International Airport.
"These two awards are a direct testament to Qatar Airways' ongoing commitment to meet the needs of our passengers and to ensure that they receive a seamless travel experience," Qatar Airways Group CEO Akbar Al Baker said.
"On-time performance is a critical factor considered by passengers while selecting which airline to fly with and Qatar Airways has always prioritized this throughout the last 18 years of our operations," he added.
