An official session of talks between Majlis Al Shura and the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea was held in Majlis Al Shura on Sunday.
The session dealt with several topics that enhance joint cooperation in the parliamentary and economic fields.
The Omani side was chaired by Khalid bin Hilal Al Ma'awali, Chairman of Majlis Al Shura while the Korean side was headed by Chung Sye-kyun, Speaker of National Assembly.
Al Ma'awali affirmed that there is a sincere desire to strengthen economic cooperation to achieve prosperity for people of the two friendly countries.
He also talked about the miracle and the economic renaissance made by the Republic of Korea, which came from the strength of the Korean people and the will of the Korean government.
He added that the Sultanate is happy to increase cooperation with the Republic of Korea in various fields, and Majlis Al Shura is seeking to do so by establishing a Korean parliamentary friendship group in the near future.
Chung Sye-kyun, Speaker of National Assembly of Korea expressed his pleasure to visit the Sultanate, learn about the parliamentary experience in the Sultanate and to develop prospects for cooperation between the Sultanate and Korea in various fields and sectors to enhance trade and economic integration.
He highlighted the old Korean economic relations that have developed in infrastructure and gas sectors. He considered this cooperation as a successful and if continues and develops, it will be a successful cooperation.
He also pointed out that the formation of an Omani-Korean parliamentary friendship group will help developing the bilateral relations between the two sides, in addition to means of promotingcooperation to a wider horizon in fields of diplomacy, security, defence and industry.
He added that Korean companies are interested in the industrial zone in Duqm and hope to provide greater opportunities for Korean companies. He also highlighted the policy being pursued by the Omani Government to establish security and peace in the Arab region.
The guest and his accompanying delegation toured the Council of Oman. The tour included visiting the Oman Council Hall and Majlis Al Shura Hall, in addition to familiarising with the modern electronic
technologies used by the halls and facilities of the Council of Oman.
The session of talks was attended by Eng. Mohammed bin Abu Bakr Al Ghassani, Deputy Chairman of Majlis Al Shura, Sheikh Ali bin Nasser Al-Mahrouqi, Secretary General of the Majlis and members of the Majlis Office.
