General Motors' Canadian subsidiary announced Thursday the end of production for the Chevrolet Camaro at its Oshawa, Ontario assembly plant, which will result in 1,000 job cuts.
The one-third reduction in staff at the Oshawa plant will be mainly through attrition, the company said in a statement.
The last Camaro sports car is scheduled to roll off its assembly line on November 20, however the plant will continue to build the Buick Regal, Cadillac XTS, Chevrolet Equinox and two versions of the Chevrolet Impala.
