The multinational Chinese telecom company Huawei announced on Thursday that it signed up Colombian football player James Rodriguez as its brand ambassador to Colombia for the next two years.
The Real Madrid football player scored six goals for Colombia at 2014 World Cup in Brazil and won the Golden Boot.
The company chose Rodriguez as "the new official face of the Premium line of mobile devices", according to the company, as the footballer was idolized by Colombian football fans as the represent of the dedication, the determination and the ability that Colombians have to make their dreams come true.
"Rodriguez will help Huawei to attract more consumers and we look to the future with optimism and determination," said Maria Fernanda Chinchilla, Director of Terminals Marketing in Huawei's Colombian company.
Huawei revealed that last year their sales were worth 678 million U.S. dollars in Colombia, which meant an increase of 40% year on year.
