South Korea is fast emerging as a key trade and investment partner of the UAE, with the huge potential for future economic partnerships signifying a strategic shift in his country’s economic relations with fast growing Asian economies, the UAE Minister of Energy, Suhail Mohammed Faraj al-Mazrouei, said during a press conference held in Seoul with a group of Korean news media organisations yesterday. He said that the bilateral relationship has become much more strategic over the last 10 years.
"Korean firms are now important participants in many key projects in the UAE, from nuclear power to other strategic business areas. This growing relationship between the two countries will certainly benefit business in both countries," he said.
Earlier in the day, the minister met with the Korean Minister of Foreign Affairs, Kang Kyung Wha, to discuss a wide range of issues pending between Korea and the UAE, including the controversial issues associated with Qatar.
He didn't go into details as to his meeting with Minister Kang, but told reporters that the main problem with Qatar is its alliance with extremist ideology and it’s spending of billions of dollars to support individuals and terrorist organisations.
