Malaysia will continue to work with its ASEAN partners to steer the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) talks for balanced outcomes.
Malaysia's Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) said the RCEP complemented the work under the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC).
The Ministry said in a statement that the RCEP will also lead to streamlining the different rules applied under the different ASEAN+1 free trade agreements (FTAs), according to Malaysia's (Bernama) News Agency.
MITI said 14 negotiating rounds had been held over the last three years, and another three negotiating rounds were scheduled this year.
