The EU would extend a 30 million euro grant to an Egyptian wind station in the Gulf of Suez, the Head of EU Operations Section in Egypt Diego Escalona said.
In statements to MENA on Thursday, Escalona said the 200-250 megawatt station will cost about 345 million euros.
He noted that the EU bankrolled and opened Egypt's Gabal el Zeit wind farm, the biggest wind farm in Africa, last year.
He added that the EU is funding a study on means of building a solar-powered farm in Kom Ombo in Egypt, stressing continued support for the Egyptian government to improve and use solar energy.
