Egypt seeks to go into a comprehensive strategic partnership with the African countries at the governmental and parliamentary level, Egyptian Parliament Speaker Ali Abdel Aal said on Tuesday.
Addressing an African Parliament session, Abdel Aal said Egypt played a vital role to decolonize and develop African countries.
A specialized committee for African affairs will be formed at the Egyptian House of Representatives, he said.
Abdel Aal stressed the importance of fighting terrorism and overcoming challenges hindering the economic development in the African continent according to the African Union's agenda for development.
Egypt is keen on bolstering ties with the African countries through the Egyptian Fund for Technical Cooperation with Africa and the Egyptian Agency for Partnership Development, he said.
Abdel Aal added that the African Parliament should play an active role in promoting economic integration and fighting terrorism in the African continent.
