Yemen and Tunisia have signed in the Tunisian capital Tunis a memorandum of understanding for cooperation between the two countries in the field of energy.
The MoU was signed by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Electricity Abdullah al-Akwa and Tunisian Minister of Industry, Energy and Mines Kamal bin Nasser and aims at strengthening the cooperation between the Ministry of Electricity in Yemen and the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Mines in Tunisia and benefiting from the expertise and capabilities of the two sides to serve the interests of the two countries.
The memorandum of understanding included the cooperation and exchange of expertise in renewable energy sources, encouraging the establishment of joint companies to serve the energy, training, rehabilitation ,maintenance and manufacturing, as well as encouraging the private sector in both countries for joint investment in this field.
It also included the establishment of Yemeni-Tunisian joint technical committee to coordinate and follow-up the implementation of what came in the the MoU and work to remove the difficulties that hinder its implementation and search for new opportunities for joint cooperation.
