A Seminar on Gulf Unified Regulation for Low Voltage Electric Equipment and Appliances opened today under the patronage of Minister of Industry and Commerce Zayed bin Rashid Al Zayani,
Undersecretary for Commerce Affairs Nader Al-Moayyed inaugurated the forum in presence of GCC Standardization Organization (GSO) Secretary-General.
The seminar is organized by the Ministry of Industry and Commerce in Co-operation with GCC Standardization Organization and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP). The Undersecretary stressed the GSO-led efforts keenness over the past years to develop the basic elements that support the GCC common market through the Gulf system.
He pointed that the Gulf system consists of a set of technical regulations that specify the basic safety requirements that should be available in the products, in compliance with international practices and regulations. The Gulf Unified Regulation is considered as the main reference which determines the basic requirements should be met in the low-voltage electric equipment and appliances before launching them in the local market.
