The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has offered more than 1.34 billion Dirhams (USD 364 million) worth of aid for the Syrian people since 2012, a report said Monday.
The humanitarian aid contributed to alleviating suffering of the Syrian people, namely refugees in neighboring countries - Jordan, Lebanon, Iraq and Turkey - whose number exceed four million people, the report, released by the Ministry of Development and International Cooperation, said.
The UAE, showed the report, allocated USD 60 million in 2014 to provide food, health and educational services, water and sewage facilities for the internally displaced and refugees.
The UAE funded a number of humanitarian initiatives like the UAE camp in Jordan which houses more than 4,000 Syrian refugees now and can contain more than 10,000.
The country also set up a field hospital in the Jordanian area of Mafraq, which receives more than 800 cases everyday, said the report.
The report said that the UAE launched "Tarahamo" campaign early this year to help a million Syrian refugees during the harsh winter season.
