Bahrain Bourse (BHB) held the first Schools TradeQuest "Strategy Presentations" Session on Tuesday, 2nd December 2014 at its premises at the Bahrain Financial Harbour. During the session, the teams presented their "Investment Strategies" and predicted their financial performance for the upcoming trading periods of the program in front of the "Investment Review Committee (IRC)".
The IRC consists of representatives from various financial and banking institutions sponsoring the program along with Bahrain Bourse. The "Investment Review Committee" evaluates the presentations of the school teams, the effectiveness of their investment strategies, their overall knowledge of the basic principles of investing in stocks, risk management and other related topics.
Bahrain Bourse has organized several workshops and presentations for the participating students prior to the start of the first trading period of the program to introduce the concepts related to investment in stock markets and explain how to manage a portfolio of instruments listed on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) and Bahrain Bourse. The presentations also briefed students on the rules and regulations applied at NYSE and BHB and the companies listed on those markets.
This year’s TradeQuest program includes 10 school teams, 7 private schools and 3 government schools. The private schools are: Al Wisam International School, Ibn Khuldoon National School, Naseem International School, Al Noor International School, Abdul Rahman Kanoo International School, Bahrain School, St. Christopher’s School and the British School. The government schools participants are: Al Hidd Secondary Girls School, Sh. Abdulaziz bin Moh’d Secondary Boys School, and Omaima bint Al No’aman Secondary Girls School.
Several financial and banking institutions in Bahrain are sponsoring TradeQuest and taking part in the program by conducting lectures and workshops that are conducted during the program, and they are: Gulf International Bank (GIB), Securities and Investment Company (SICO), Bahrain Mumtalakat Holding Company, J.P. Morgan Bank, BBK, CFA Bahrain, United Gulf Bank, Citigroup, and Bahrain Institute of Banking & Finance (BIBF).
