Kuwait Higher Relief Committee said Monday 85,000 Kuwaiti Dinars (KD) (USD 290,000) were donated in the first day of a campaign to help Syrian refugees facing harsh winter in neighboring countries.
This sum is the tally of donations presented through state-run Kuwait TV, and other donations gathered by charity societies will be added to it, Jaber Al-Wanda, campaign coordinator, told KUNA.
Al-Wanda, Director General of Kuwait Relief Society, said there were companies pledging to provide cash money, as well as blankets, garments and heaters.
He said the relief campaign would continue in in the days to come through different media.
People can donate through calling the donation center: 1808300 or logging in to WWW.IICO.ORG.
