President Abdel Fattah El Sisi met on Saturday with German Minister of Economic Affairs and Energy Sigmar Gabriel on the sidelines of Egypt Economic Development Conference (EEDC) in Sharm el Sheikh.
Presidential Spokesman Alaa Youssef said Gabriel conveyed to President Sisi the greetings of German Chancellor Angela Merkel and an official invitation to visit Germany to discuss means of boosting bilateral relations.
Sisi briefed the German minister on the developments Egypt went through during the last two years, which reflected the will of the Egyptian people who rejected that their identity be changed, the spokesman said.
Egypt is keen on completing the last step of the roadmap which is the parliamentary elections, Sisi made it clear to the German minister.
For his part, the Gabriel stressed that his county pays special attention to Egypt due to its pivotal role in the Middle East, lauding the recent steps to achieve political and economic reforms.
