President Abdel Fattah El Sisi met Sunday with Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab and a number of ministers to discuss the social, economic and urban development of Egyptian villages.
The meeting also addressed the status of some development projects currently under implementation, presidential spokesman Alaa Youssef said.
Local Development Minister Adel Labib reviewed a project to develop 1,153 of the neediest villages nationwide.
The development scheme mainly targets public services: drinking water, drainage systems, education, health, street lighting and road pavement, he said.
He expounded on efforts to apply development projects under a fund offered by the UAE and the overhauling of 10 villages through the "Tahya Misr" fund.
For his part, Health Minister Adel Adawy reviewed the healthcare program for financially-disabled persons in the neediest villages.
