The Consumer Price Index (CPI) of July, 2014 is estimated at 118.0, showing an increase of 0.3% compared to the CPI of June 2014, and a 3.1% compared to the CPI of July 2013, according to the Ministry of Development Planning & Statistics (MDPS) press release.
The overall increase of 0.3% in CPI of July, 2014 when compared to CPI of June 2014 has resulted from the combined effect of price increases recorded in the main groups: "Garments & Footwear" by 1.5%, "Rentals, Fuel and Energy*" and "Medical care" by 0.3%for each, "Furniture, Textiles & Home Appliances" by 0.8%, "Entertainment, Recreation & Culture" by 0.7%, "Transport and Communication" by 0.5%, and price falls noticed in: "Food, Beverages & tobacco" by 1.0%; and "Miscellaneous Goods & Services" by 0.3%.
The overall CPI of July, 2014, compared to the one of July, 2013 has increased by 3.1%. The price increases are observed in most of the groups: "Rentals, Fuel & Energy*" by 7.6% (mainly hikes noticed in rentals of residential buildings), "Furniture, Textiles & Home Appliances" by 5.4%, "Garments and Footwear" by 2.2% "Transport and Communication" by 1.8%, "Miscellaneous Goods & Services" by 1.3%, "Entertainment, Recreation & Culture" by 0.8%, and "Medical care" by 0.7%, On the other hand "Food, Beverages & tobacco" index have declined by 0.8%.
The CPI of July 2014, excluding "Rentals, Fuel and Energy" group stands at 128.1, showing an increase of 0.2% compared to the index of June 2014 and 1.4% in comparison to the CPI of July, 2013.
