The Wali (governor) of Gezira State, Prof. Al-Zubair Bashir Taha, Thursday received at the Friendship Balace in Wad Medani, Gezira State, the Ambassador of the State of Qatar and Dean of Diplomatic Corps in Khartoum, Ali Bin Hassan Al-Hamidi, as part of the efforts to cement the distinguished relations between the State of Qatar and Gezira State. Present in the meeting were the Minister of Finance, Commander of the 1st Infantry Regiment, the Executive Director of Al-Mangel Locality and the Director of the Department Investment in the State. The Qatari Ambassador expressed his satisfaction over the progress of the historic relations between the peoples of the two countries, affirming intention to consolidate the cooperation in domains of agricultural investment in Gezira in response to the directives of the Amir of Qatar. The Wali of Gezira State, on his part, explained that there are more than three million acres of fertile lands in Gezira State, revealing existence of a plan to boost aspects of agricultural and industrial investments. He lauded the firm relations between Sudan and Qatar, expressing his thanks to the Qatari Ambassador over the visit which reflects the close ties of Friendship between the two States. Meanwhile, the Qatari Ambassador said that the peoples of Sudan and Qatar have many things in common, reiterating that the bilateral relations are progressing in all domains. BF
