Qatar is to send a government delegation to Sudan with an eye to investing around US$2bn in the African state, the Qatar News Agency reported this week. The announcement comes after a meeting in Doha on Wednesday between HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani and HE Sudan\'s President Omar Hassan al-Bashir. “The Qatari investments would be in the form of purchase of bonds to be issued by the Sudanese Government,” a statement from the QNA said. Other areas likely to see investment include mining, oil and agricultural sectors, the report added.
