Qatar has extended financial support, through Qatar Development Fund, to a project undertaken by the International Organization for Migration (IMO) to help Nepalese workers.
The project, which is overseen by Qatar Embassy in Nepal, seeks to support Nepalese workers and encourage their safe return as well as the integration of repatriated migrants.
IMO said that migrants incurred heavy debts to travel abroad and it has been offering help to most of them, adding that limited funds available affected its efforts to reintegrate migrants into their communities as well as its long-term support extended to workers.
Established in 1951, IOM is the leading inter-governmental organization in the field of migration and works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners. IOM works to help ensure the orderly and humane management of migration, to promote international cooperation on migration issues, to assist in the search for practical solutions to migration problems and to provide humanitarian assistance to migrants in need.
