HE Minister's Assistant for International Cooperation Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani has stressed that the State of Qatar through its membership in the Human Rights Council and its membership in the UN organs and institutions and regional organizations will spare no effort in contributing actively to support efforts related to the promotion of the guidelines and to promote the working group on Business and Human Rights.
This came in a speech delivered by HE Minister's Assistant for International Cooperation Affairs at the opening of the training workshop on "Business and Human Rights" organized by the Human Rights Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in collaboration with the UN Working Group on Business and Human Rights and the UN Human Rights Training and Documentation Centre for South-West Asia and the Arab region here on Tuesday morning at Al Mergab Hall at Four Seasons Hotel.
The workshop sessions dealt with the guiding principles of the United Nations on business and human rights represented in the "Protect, Respect and Remedy", and the responsibility of governments and the challenges facing companies in implementing these principles, as well as the best practices and experiences in business and human rights sector.
The workshop was presented by experts from UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Office in Geneva and the UN Centre in Doha.
