Qatar Businessmen Association discussed the scope of cooperation with a number of different sectors in Germany, as they met with a number of ministers and business personalities during a visit by a delegation of the association to Berlin.
The Association said in a statement today that the visit yielded a number of agreement that will strengthen the level of cooperation between the Qatari and the German economies and increase trade volume and investment. The two sides also agreed to hold a Qatar forum for business and investment in the first quarter of 2018. They also agreed that the Qatari private sector takes part in the green week forum which will take place in the German capital in January. There will also be an agricultural exhibition in Doha with the German Federal Ministry for Food and Agriculture participating along with a number of German companies in the field.
German State Secretary at the Federal Ministry for Food and Agriculture Peter Blaser that his country is planning to support the State of Qatar in all possible fields, due to the strong ties the two sides enjoy. He added that Germany can help Qatar in the food products field as it is one of the leading countries in it. It is third largest exporter of food products, with 70 billion worth of exports from that field.
For his part, HE Qatar’s Ambassador to Germany Sheikh Saud bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani said that bilateral trade volume reached 3 billion Euros, making Germany one of Qatar’s most important trading partners. The distinguished activity of Qatari investments in Germany was also one of the most important factors of enhancing cooperation in the economic and financial fields.
HE the Ambassador added that Qatar has invested around $25 billion in Germany so far in many sectors whether autos, information technology, or banking. His Excellency also noted that German companies were carrying out projects in Qatar worth 20 billion Euros, which reflects the strength of ties between the two sides.
