The Labor Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) and the Ministry of Health decided during a high-level meeting they convened on 17 October 2011 to develop the existing medical checkup for expatriate manpower and to link the system with the GCC medical checkup system for expatriate workers scheduled to be launched in January 2012. LMRA’s CEO Osama Abdulla Al-Absi revealed that LMRA agreed with Ministry of Health to carry out drastic upgrading of the current medical checkup system for expatriate workers. The system which was adopted two years ago stipulates instantaneous repatriation of an expatriate worker who does not pass medical checkup. Pre-employment medical checkup certificates are approved which are issued from 96 centers in 7 Arab and Asian manpower exporting countries. The database in the new system will be mutually shared by LMRA, Ministry of Health, General Directorate of Nationality, Passports and Residence.
