Dr. Matar Al-Niyadi, Director of the Board of GCC power grid, announced today that the Sultanate of Oman has agreed to complete the procedural measures to join the GCC power grid, moving from an observer to a full member.
In a speech here today to mark the opening of the GCC Electricity conference 2014, hosted by the Kingdom of Bahrain from 10-12 November, he said the GCC Power Grid is entering a new phase, that's activating energy trade, and establishing a joint power market offering ideal usage of energy.
He disclosed that the authority is currently studying applications from non-GCC countries to join the GCC power zone.
