Major maritime projects which are being conducted in Egypt, especially the New Suez Canal, will pivotally serve the international marine navigation, secretary-general of the International Maritime Organization (IMO).
During his meeting with Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab on Saturday, Koji Sekimizu said the new canal will also help in developing the Egyptian ports.
Sekimizu praised the Egyptian efforts and its keenness to develop the marine transportation sector, apply the international standards of safety, and enhance human potentials thorough coping with continuous development in the field.
The meeting was attended by the transport minister, heads of Egyptian ports, and the president of the Arab Academy for Science, Technology & Maritime Transport.
Mahlab stressed the importance of continuous cooperation with the IMO in all the running major projects.
