King Fahad Causeway Authority signed Tuesday a 168-million-riyal (USD 44.7 million) contract with Al-Mudeer Al-Kuwaiti Company for the operation and maintenance of the bridge that linked Saudi Arabia and Bahrain.
Al-Mudeer Al-Kuwaiti would start the five-year contract in October in a mission that would include operation, maintanance and inspection of all area between fee-collecting booths at the Saudi and Bahraini sides, which is 26-kilometer long.
Fahad Al-Otaishan, Director General of King Fahad Causeway Authority, said the contract with Al-Mudeer Al-Kuwaiti company aimed at maintaining high-standard services in the bridge as well as maintaining safety of infrastructure in order to meet the growing number of travelers.
Al-Mudeer Al-Kuwaiti Board Chairman expressed in a statement content for winning the bid for the maintenance of the causeway.
He said the contract would allow the company to provide internationally-recognized services with the major objective of improving services on the causeway.
