The Al-Lawzy lake development projects has been given the official go-ahead, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Minister Dr. Jumaa bin Ahmed Al-Kaabi said.
The first phase of the development scheme has been awarded to a specialized company in a package costing an overall BD288, 000.
In a statement today, the minister pointed out that the natural reserve had been officially demarcated in coordination with relevant official authorities, adding that the site would be fenced off.
"The contractor who started working on the project this week is expected to complete within six months as scheduled", Dr. Al-Kaabi said.
He affirmed the ministry’s keenness on development public parks in Bahrain, in line with workplan of the Government, chaired by His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al-Khalifa.
He paid tribute to Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al-Khalifa, Wife of His Majesty the King and President of the National Initiative to develop the agricultural sector for her keenness on the project which aims at protecting the environment, ensuring biodiversity balance and expanding green spaces in Bahrain.
