Kuwait's Zakat House on Sunday opened its 23rd symposium on contemporary alms issues, attended by several scholars and financial and auditing figures.
The event is sponsored by Minister of Justice and Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, Board Chairman of the Zakat House Yaqoub Al-Sanea.
Holding such events reflects keenness on the pillars of Islam and serving the religion, so as to cope with modern age, said House Director General Ibrahim Al-Saleh.
Today's symposium crowns efforts exerted over the past 32 years, offering a reference for researchers and alms institutions, he added.
Al-Saleh highlighted support by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and confidence of the Kuwaiti people, for the success realized by the House.
Such symposiums have been held over the past three decades, recommended by the international alms conference held in Kuwait in 1984, Chairman of the Zakat House Shari'a board Khalid Al-Otaibi said. He added that the first symposium on contemporary alms issues was held in Egypt 1988.
