Director General of the Public Authority for Industry (PAI) Mohammad Al-Ajmi said the national industries have achieved high quality and could compete with products made by several countries across the globe, urging the audience to buy and support the national products.
The PAI is keen on supporting the national products that meet the global criteria, especially in the sectors of building materials and metal, Al-Ajmi told reporters during his inaugural speech at Al Takatof (cooperation) Al Kuwaiti National Industries Expo, stressing the State of Kuwait will spare no effort to promote the sector of industry.
The PAI has been encouraging and developing different industrial sectors through increasing productivity and strategic industries to depend on the industry sector, in parallel with the petroleum one, as an essential resource, he noted.
He underscored the importance of upgrading the country's industrial sector, emphasizing that the PAI is urging citizens to purchase national products.
For his part, Alaa Al-Amir, expo's director general, said that the event aims to buttress the national economy by displaying different industrial products to shed light on this sector.
Kuwait is in a dire need of the concept of collective work for industry to build a promising future for ambitious youth and to insist on increasing an effective human development in the sector of industry, Al-Amir noted.
He said the expo provides a platform to help local factories promote their products on the regional and Gulf markets, noting it also encourages small and medium-sized enterprise owners to start their industrial businesses.
The expo promotes cooperation between the governmental and nongovernmental bodies, he said.
Al-Amir lauded efforts exerted by Ministry of Commerce and Industry aiming at boosting the local industries to materialize the vision of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah to turn Kuwait into a financial and commercial hub.
At least 20 companies and several governmental bodies are partaking in the expo.
