Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Hind Al-Sabeeh called on non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to abide by their statute and principles.
The Social Ministry has always been a partner for NGOs with the objective of improving the environment they are working in, Al-Sabeeh, also Minister of State for Planning and Development, told KUNA after a ceremony held to honor Kuwaiti NGOs and their founders.
"We do not want the NGOs to be private properties but they should have new members and their contribution of the public should be high," she said.
She said there was a committee consisting of specialists whose job was to make sure the NGOs stick to their statute and objectives.
Sheikha Fareeha Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Chairperson of Kuwait Association for the Ideal Family, said NGOs have great contributions to the Kuwaiti society.
Mohammad Al-Sanousi, former Information Minister and representative of the Cinema Club, called for supporting the NGOs which have positive contributions to the public.
He also urged the social ministry to act against NGOs who failed to honor their social obligations.
Jamal Al-Nasrallah, Board Chairman of Kuwait Public Relations Association, which sponsored the ceremony, said the association sought to build a system boosting communications between public on one side, and the public and private sectors on the other.
