Kuwait's Direct Aid Society has provided urgent relief aid to about 1,500 Sudanese families whose houses were swept away by recent torrential rains and floods.
"The aid is meant to alleviate the suffering of the affected people and provide them with their urgent needs," Director of Direct Aid Society's Bureau here Alman Sidati told KUNA Wednesday.
He pointed out that the aid include foodstuff, tents, blankets and other relief items.
He vowed that the society would continue aid provision to the people affected by devastating floods which hit several parts of the country recently.
The Sudanese authorities announced that the torrential rains and floods in the country had so far led to the death of 57 people and injury of 202 others in addition to the destruction of thousands of homes, dozens of educational institutions and service centers and thousands of acres of agricultural land.
