The State of Kuwait on Thursday voiced concern over the quality of food produced by world food companies.
Commenting on a health report presented by a UN Human Rights Council (HRC) on the sidelines of the 26th HRC session, the Second Secretary of the Kuwaiti Foreign Ministry Bader Al-Adwani said Kuwait supports the expert's call on world food producers to commit themselves to food quality criteria.
This commitment comes through checking and controlling food products and developing data labels in order to ensure better health conditions, he said.
"The State of Kuwait attaches much significance to health in general and non-communicable diseases in particular," the Kuwaiti official pointed out.
In this regard, Kuwait has set up a high-level national committee led by the minister of health and includes senior officials concerned as members with a view to setting out a national strategy to prevent and fight non-communicable diseases, he added.
Kuwait is really worried about the perils and dangers of non-communicable diseases that attack 36 million people per annum, which requires concerted efforts by the international community, primarily food makers, to improve food quality, Al-Adwani noted
